In another endorsement, retiring U.S. Rep. Dan Kildee has endorsed state Sen. Kristen McDonald Rivet to succeed him in Michigan’s 8th Congressional District. McDonald Rivet is running against State Board of Education president Pamela Pugh and former Flint mayor Matt Collier in the Democratic primary.
Gov. Gretchen Whitmer has also endorsed McDonald Rivet, highlighting her commitment to fighting for Michiganders in Congress. Kildee’s endorsement, along with Whitmer’s support, makes McDonald Rivet the front-runner in the closely watched congressional race.
In other news, President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump debated on Thursday night, with experts speculating on potential replacements for Biden if he were to step down before the Democratic convention.
