Top 10 Most Attended Games at the Big House

Michigan Stadium, also known as the “Big House”, holds the title of being the largest stadium in the United States and third-largest sports venue in the world, boasting a seating capacity of over 100,000 fans. During the 2023 season, Michigan Wolverines’ home games brought in an average of 109,971 fans per game, with the highest attendance of 110,615 spectators witnessing the Wolverines defeat the Buckeyes. Although this is impressive, it falls short of being in the top ten highest-attended games in Michigan Stadium history.

The current single-game attendance record in college football is held by the 2016 “Battle at Bristol” between Tennessee and Virginia Tech at 156,990 fans. However, Michigan Stadium still claims the record for the largest crowd in college football history during their 2013 game against Notre Dame with 115,109 fans present.

In terms of Big Ten stadiums, Michigan Stadium remains at the top with an official capacity of 107,601 seats. When considering national venues, Michigan Stadium is followed by Beaver Stadium, Ohio Stadium, Kyle Field, and others. Despite the impressive attendance numbers and records, the Wolverines continue to draw in devoted fans season after season, creating a rich and vibrant game-day atmosphere at the iconic Big House.
