Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill was detained by police in a traffic incident near the team’s stadium before their Week 1 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The team confirmed that Hill was briefly detained by police before being released. Several teammates stopped to offer support, and Hill ultimately arrived safely at the stadium and was available to play in the game.
The incident was captured on video, showing Hill laying face down on the ground as officers handcuffed him. This is not the first time Hill has been involved in legal issues, as he has a history dating back to college including assault charges against his pregnant girlfriend and a battery incident involving his son. He also reached a settlement in 2023 with an employee who accused him of assault after a verbal disagreement.
Hill, 30, is in his third season with the Dolphins and has not faced discipline from the NFL for the previous incidents. His agent and the team acknowledged the situation, but did not provide further details. Despite the incident, Hill was able to play in the game and continue his career in the NFL.
