Junior midfielder Carson Hodgson of the #9 Western Michigan men’s soccer team has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week after an impressive performance. Hodgson scored his first career hat trick in a 4-1 victory over Detroit Mercy and earned a 0-0 tie at Bradley University. His five shots, four on goal, and six points were crucial in leading his team to victory. Hodgson’s goal in the 68th minute marked his fourth game-winner of the year, tying him for the second most game-winning goals in the NCAA. This win extended the team’s 17th consecutive victory over Michigan opponents, the longest win streak in men’s college soccer history.
Hodgson’s accolades include being named the NCAA Digital Men’s Soccer Player of the Week and earning a spot on TopDrawerSoccer’s Team of the Week. He currently ranks third in goals and fourth in assists in the MVC, with 19 career assists. Western Michigan remains the last unbeaten team in DI NCAA Men’s Soccer, having completed 37 consecutive games without a loss.
