The Mid-American Conference recognized two members of the Eastern Michigan University lacrosse program this week with Mackenzie Blackwell named MAC Offensive Player of the Week and Maddie Porter named MAC Goalkeeper of the Week. Blackwell, who previously earned this honor earlier in the season, scored eight goals in two games, including a season-high five goals in a win over the University of Detroit Mercy. Porter recorded 18 saves in both games, contributing to a crucial win over Detroit Mercy and holding opponents to single-digit goals in back-to-back home games for the first time in program history.
Blackwell leads the MAC in total goals and goals per game average, while Porter’s strong performance in goal has been pivotal for the Eagles. This marks the fifth and sixth weekly awards earned by the EMU program this season. In addition to Blackwell and Porter, Katheryn Wilson was previously named MAC Offensive Player of the Week for her standout performance in a game where the Eagles scored a school-record-tying 19 goals.
Looking ahead, EMU will face the University of Oregon at home on Friday, April 11, followed by a game against Kent State University on Sunday, April 13. Fans can stay updated on EMU Lacrosse by following the team on Instagram and Twitter. The MAC Players of the Week for April 8 also included Katie Baumer from Akron for Defense.
