Michigan basketball has added another transfer to its roster for the upcoming season. Former UCLA center Aday Mara, hailing from Spain, recently announced his commitment to the Wolverines. Standing at an impressive 7-foot-3, Mara will be a towering presence on the court for Michigan.
Mara, who played two seasons at UCLA, decided to enter the Transfer Portal in April after limited playing time with the Bruins. During his time at UCLA, Mara showed improvement from his freshman to sophomore season, averaging 6.4 points and 4.0 rebounds per game in his second year.
Despite battling injuries and conditioning issues, Mara’s potential has caught the attention of Michigan’s coaching staff. He joins three other transfers in Michigan’s 2025-26 roster, including Elliot Cadeau from North Carolina, Morez Johnson Jr. from Illinois, and Yaxel Lendeborg from UAB.
Mara is expected to provide depth as a backup center and fill a key role in Michigan’s frontcourt. However, Michigan is still awaiting Lendeborg’s NBA Draft decision, as he expresses interest in pursuing a professional career in the NBA. If Lendeborg opts for the draft, Michigan may look to add more frontcourt players before finalizing its roster for the upcoming season.
Michigan fans and followers are excited to see Mara in action and anticipate how his size and skills will contribute to the Wolverines’ success on the court. Stay tuned for more updates on Michigan basketball as the team prepares for the upcoming season.
