Kent State loses both games in doubleheader against Central Michigan

In a pair of Saturday softball games against Central Michigan, Kent State came up short in both contests, falling by scores of 4-3 and 12-4. Despite scoring early in the first inning of both games, the Golden Flashes were unable to secure the victories. Sophomore Megan Claerhout stood out at the plate, collecting four hits, two runs, and two RBIs for Kent State. The team was led by redshirt sophomore Kendal Leitner and junior Brynn Libler, who had three hits each.

During Game 1, Kent State took an early lead but ultimately fell short as Central Michigan scored three runs in the second inning. A late rally in the sixth inning wasn’t enough to secure the win for Kent State. In Game 2, the Golden Flashes again jumped out to an early lead, but Central Michigan’s powerful offense proved too much to overcome as they scored eight runs in the third inning.

Next up for Kent State is a doubleheader against Buffalo on April 15 at 1 p.m. at Devine Diamond. Fans can follow all the action of Kent State Softball by downloading the official Kent State Golden Flashes app or following the team on social media.

Kent State will be aiming to bounce back from their losses and secure a win against Buffalo in their upcoming games.
