Lacrosse faces challenging matchup at home against Oregon, loses 13-11

The Eastern Michigan University lacrosse team suffered a tough 13-11 loss to the University of Oregon, despite hat tricks from Katheryn Wilson and Mackenzie Blackwell. The Eagles started strong, building a 10-5 lead, but a stellar eight-goal run by the Ducks turned the tide in their favor.

In the first half, Eastern Michigan took the lead with goals from several players including Emerson Henry and Abby Alderman. Wilson and Blackwell contributed hat tricks to help the Eagles secure a 9-5 halftime lead. However, a strong second-half performance from the Ducks saw them score six consecutive goals to take a one-goal lead. The Eagles fought back, but ultimately fell short as the Ducks held on for the win.

Individually, Blackwell’s three-goal hat trick marked her 11th of the season, breaking the single-season record at EMU. She also brought her season total to 45 goals, nearing her own school records set last year. Wilson also had an impressive performance with her fifth hat trick of the year. The team as a whole recorded 11 caused turnovers, ranking as the 10th-most in program history.

Looking ahead, the Eagles will face Kent State University in another key Mid-American Conference game on Sunday, April 13. Fans can follow all of the EMU Lacrosse action on the team’s social media accounts.
