Terriers Lose to Western Michigan, 6-2, in NCAA Title Game

The Boston University men’s ice hockey team fell to Western Michigan in the NCAA title game, with a final score of 6-2. Despite goals from Cole Eiserman and Shane Lachance, the Terriers could not secure a win, finishing the season with a record of 24-14-2. Western Michigan took an early lead in the game, with BU equalizing at one point before ultimately falling behind. Despite a strong effort in the third period, the Terriers were unable to catch up to the Broncos. Freshman Cole Eiserman, who scored his 25th goal of the season in the game, was named to the all-tournament team.

Western Michigan had a slight advantage in shots, with BU converting on one of their two power play opportunities. Freshman Cole Hutson also had a standout performance with six shots on goal. Seniors Jack Page and Tristan Amonte, along with junior Ryan Greene and others, played key roles in BU’s success this season. Despite the loss in the NCAA title game, the Terriers were able to reach three Frozen Fours and win the 2023 Hockey East title. The Hutson brothers, Cole and Lane, both had impressive seasons as well, with Cole matching his brother’s freshman-year point total of 48. Overall, despite the loss in the championship game, the Boston University men’s ice hockey team had a successful season, with several standout performances from their players.
