Central Michigan Track and Field hosted the Chippewa Challenge at the Lyle Bennett Outdoor Track, welcoming schools to compete in a one-day meet. The team had five event wins, 18 top-three finishes, and 35 personal records. Emily Paupore and Natalie Newcombe impressed in the 1500m race, while Olivia East placed second in the 800m. The sprinters and hurdlers also had standout performances.
The team also saw a special moment with senior Grace Williamson competing on the track for the first time. Jada Pride, Ciara Rosenzweig, and Libby Munderloh represented the hurdlers, with Merrick, Hill, and Risner excelling in the throwing events. On the men’s side, Joey Taverna had a record-setting performance in the 3000 steeplechase, while Fredricks, Janesak, and Cockerel ran personal bests in the 5000m.
“We are so proud of the team’s hard work and dedication,” said Director of Cross Country/Track and Field Jenny Swieton. The team will now prepare for upcoming meets at Wake Forest and Indiana State.
