Transfer from Western Michigan Joining Minnesota Basketball Team

The Minnesota Golden Gophers are actively recruiting Western Michigan transfer guard Chansey Willis Jr., who is on campus for a visit this weekend. Willis Jr. recently entered the transfer portal after a successful season with the Broncos, where he averaged 16.8 points and 5.8 assists per game while shooting 42.4% from the floor. He also showcased his shooting ability from three-point range, making 28.4% of his attempts.

One of Willis Jr.’s standout performances included a 34-point game against Ohio, where he also contributed eight assists and four rebounds. He had several other 20-point scoring efforts throughout the season. Despite limited opportunities against major opponents, he delivered a solid performance against Michigan State with 12 points, six rebounds, and six assists.

Prior to his time at Western Michigan, Willis Jr. had successful stints at Saginaw Valley State and Henry Ford College, where he averaged 20.0 points and 7.0 assists as a sophomore. With his scoring ability and playmaking skills, he is a promising prospect for any team looking to add talent to their roster. The Golden Gophers are eager to add Willis Jr. to their lineup and are hoping this campus visit will seal the deal in securing his commitment for the upcoming season.
