Athletics at the University of Michigan


The University of Michigan women’s lacrosse team suffered a 15-6 loss to Northwestern in a Big Ten road contest. Senior Jill Smith extended her point streak to 32 games by scoring a goal in each. Kaylee Dyer had two goals and one assist for the Wolverines. Goalie Erin O’Grady made 12 saves, and Grace Callahan contributed on defense with two caused turnovers and one ground ball.

Michigan started strong with a 3-1 lead in the first quarter, but Northwestern took control in the second quarter, scoring six unanswered goals to lead 7-4 at halftime. In the third quarter, Northwestern added six more goals to extend their lead to 13-4. Despite a late effort from Michigan in the fourth quarter, they were unable to overcome the deficit.

The Wolverines will wrap up their regular season on Saturday against Rutgers at U-M Lacrosse Stadium. The game will be televised live on Big Ten Network. This loss to Northwestern marks their fifth in the season with a 10-5 overall record and a 4-3 record in the Big Ten conference. Despite the loss, the team showed resilience and determination throughout the game.
