The Detroit Public Schools Community Foundation was recently featured on Michigan Matters, with CEO Kerrie Mitchell providing an update on the organization’s work to provide opportunities for students in the Detroit Public Schools Community. The foundation has been supported by graduates like Tommey Walker Jr., who started the company Detroit Vs. Everybody with a classmate and is now selling hoodies with DPSCD school names to support the foundation. Additionally, MSU’s Matt Grossmann and Tonya Schuitmaker discussed the Michigan Political Leadership Program, which trains 24 fellows each year, and their upcoming fundraising dinner featuring David Wasserman of the Cook Political Report. The political environment and its impact on young people was also discussed. Michigan Matters airs on CBS Detroit and CW Detroit 50 WKBD. Pressed for time,
viewers can watch it at its new time of 5:30 a.m. on Sundays. Carol Cain, a 13-time Emmy-winning producer and host, leads the discussions on the show.
