The Mid-American Conference recently announced its annual academic awards, with three members of the Eastern Michigan University women’s basketball program receiving Academic All-MAC honors. Elena Cabello, Kyndal Lewis, and Olivia Westphal were all recognized for their academic achievements, with Lewis earning her third career accolade. This brings the program’s total to 42 academic awards from the MAC.
To qualify for the Academic All-MAC honor, student-athletes must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for their sport. First-year student-athletes are not eligible for the award.
Lewis, a senior from Missouri, overcame an injury to earn her third academic recognition from the MAC. Cabello, a player from Spain, appeared in all 29 games of the season, while Westphal, a graduate student from Pennsylvania, led the team in three-point shooting.
