Michigan football gained a new commitment following their annual Spring Game on Saturday. UMass transfer running back CJ Hester committed to the Wolverines after visiting campus in Ann Arbor and being impressed with what he saw. Hester, a native of Cincinnati, finished his sophomore season at UMass with 529 yards and four touchdowns. His best performance came against SEC powerhouse Georgia, where he ran for 74 yards and a touchdown. Hester began his college career at Western Michigan, where he played as a freshman before transferring to UMass.
Hester’s commitment comes after Michigan lost running back Ben Hall to the transfer portal. The Wolverines still have running backs Micah Ka’apana, Justice Haynes, and Jordan Marshall on the roster. It will be interesting to see how Hester fits into the running back rotation and if he can compete with Ka’apana for the RB3 job.
Hester’s agent confirmed the commitment to Michigan to CBS Sports and 247Sports. Hester’s impressive performance in the latter part of last season caught the attention of Michigan’s coaching staff, leading to his commitment. Michigan fans can expect to see Hester in action alongside the team’s other running backs when the season kicks off. Stay tuned for more news and updates on University of Michigan athletics.
