Eastern Michigan University lacrosse team secured a 16-12 victory over the University of Akron on Easter Sunday, April 20, with Tracy Grollman leading the way with eight points, five goals, and three assists. The Eagles clinched a spot in the postseason for the second consecutive season with the win.
The game saw EMU coming back from deficits three times before dominating the fourth quarter with a 5-0 run to secure the victory. Emerson Henry, with four goals and one assist, also played a crucial role in the win.
Tracy Grollman set career-highs in goals and points, showcasing a standout performance as she scored five of the team’s goals and secured the game-winning goal. The defense, led by Annika Wozney with five caused turnovers, also had a strong performance by shutting out the Zips in the fourth quarter.
Individual milestones were achieved during the game, including Emerson Henry breaking the freshman record for draw controls and Maddie Porter becoming the first EMU goalkeeper to make 150+ saves in a single season.
With this win, Eastern Michigan improved to 8-7 overall and 4-2 in MAC play, breaking the single-season record for wins. The team’s next challenge is against Marquette University on April 25, where they will also celebrate Senior Day. The game will be streamed live on ESPN+.
