Michigan State guard announces new transfer school


Gehrig Normand, a redshirt freshman guard at Michigan State, has announced his transfer commitment to Santa Clara in the West Coast Conference. The 6-foot-5 former four-star recruit from Texas did not see much playing time with the Spartans due to a preseason knee injury and a lack of rotation opportunities. Despite showing improvement as a player, Normand expressed a desire to be closer to home.

Michigan State, which recently lost in the Elite Eight, is also losing other players to transfer and the NBA draft. Coach Tom Izzo has already made some portal additions and has incoming recruits to fill the gaps left by departing players.
