A 19-year-old from Michigan has been sentenced to eight months in jail for making a bomb threat while his girlfriend was on a cruise. Joshua Lowe sent the threat, which led Carnival Corp. to inspect over 1,000 rooms on the ship in 2024. Lowe admitted to the crime, saying he was upset that his girlfriend left him to take care of their pets. Assistant U.S. Attorney Nils Kessler warned that anyone making a bomb threat should expect consequences. Fortunately, no physical injuries resulted from the hoax. The incident serves as a reminder of the seriousness of making false threats, especially in today’s climate of heightened security concerns.
