Passengers on a Delta Air Lines flight from Orlando to Atlanta were forced to evacuate the aircraft on emergency slides onto the tarmac due to an engine fire. The incident occurred as the plane was pushing back from the gate for departure, causing flames to be visible in the tailpipe of one of the engines. The Airbus A330 was carrying 282 passengers, 10 flight attendants, and two pilots, but fortunately, there were no reported injuries. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the FAA, while maintenance teams will inspect the aircraft. Passengers were provided with food and beverages upon returning to the terminal, and a new aircraft will be brought in to transport them to their final destinations. The Orlando International Airport confirmed that the fire was contained and extinguished. Delta Airlines expressed gratitude for the passengers’ cooperation and apologized for the ordeal, emphasizing that safety is their top priority. They assured customers that they would work to get them to their destinations as soon as possible. Videos and photos from the incident showed a blackened plane wing and passengers using emergency slides to disembark the aircraft.
