Mid-Michigan pays tribute to Pope Francis: He is revered


Father Stephen Blaxton of St. Brigid Catholic Church in Midland, MI, reflects on the legacy of Pope Francis, who passed away at the age of 88. Pope Francis, known for his public appearances and dedication to helping the poor, was remembered for being a Pope of many firsts, including being the first Jesuit Pope. Father Blaxton praised Pope Francis for challenging priests to be more outward focused and to meet people where they are at, calling it a culture change within the Catholic Church.

Father Blaxton highlighted that Pope Francis will be remembered for his efforts to change the culture within the Catholic Church and for challenging the hierarchy to be more inclusive and compassionate. The special mass at St. Brigid Catholic Church will serve as a tribute to Pope Francis and his impactful papacy.
