Athletics at the University of Michigan


The University of Michigan Athletic Department honored multiple student-athletes at The Maizies awards show at Crisler Center. Among the prestigious awards given out were the Big Ten Conference Medal of Honor, Bates/Deskins Award, Sophomore Leader & Best Award, Newcomer of the Year, Raeder’s Raiders Spirit Award, Big Ten Postgraduate Scholarship Recipients, Big Ten Jackie Robinson Community & Impact Award, Austin Hatch Adversity Award, Let’s Go Do Awards, Rachael Townsend Leadership Award, and SAAC Award Categories.

Notable winners included Paul Juda and Julia Fliegner for the Big Ten Conference Medal of Honor, Abby Tamer for the Bates/Deskins Award, Ella Stephenson for the Sophomore Leader & Best Award, Syla Swords and Jordan Marshall for Newcomer of the Year, Mira Chopra for Raeder’s Raiders Spirit Award, Jenna Mulligan and Zack Mattin for Big Ten Postgraduate Scholarship Recipients, Yasmine Mansi and Semaj Morgan for Big Ten Jackie Robinson Community & Impact Award, Davis Warren for Austin Hatch Adversity Award, Zack Mattin for Let’s Go Do Awards, Zoë Bormet for Rachael Townsend Leadership Award, and numerous other winners for SAAC Award Categories.

The awards celebrated student-athletes who excelled academically, made significant contributions to their community, overcame obstacles, demonstrated leadership qualities, and embodied the spirit of teamwork. The event highlighted the achievements and dedication of Michigan’s student-athletes across a variety of sports.
