Miami Selects Michigan Defensive Tackle Kenneth Grant with 13th Pick

Miami Dolphins Draft Michigan’s Kenneth Grant to Bolster Defensive Line

In a strategic move to enhance their defensive line, the Miami Dolphins selected Michigan defensive tackle Kenneth Grant with the 13th overall pick in the NFL Draft. Paired with fellow Wolverine Mason Graham, Grant formed one of college football’s premier defensive tackle duos. Standing at 6-foot-4 and weighing 331 pounds, Grant was a dominant force in his final season, registering three sacks and 6.5 tackles for loss despite missing the bowl game against Alabama.

Grant’s selection at No. 13 came as a surprise to many, as he was projected to be taken later in the first round. "I think I fit in great," Grant said after the pick. "It’s a similar kind of scheme as my previous school, and I believe I can wreak havoc in the backfield in both the run and pass game."

The Dolphins clearly aimed to address critical needs with this pick, but their drafting efforts are far from over. They retain nine remaining picks, including the 48th and 98th selections in the second and third rounds respectively. Areas still requiring focus include defensive tackle, secondary, and interior offensive line.

Potential candidates for the next rounds include defensive tackles such as Texas A&M’s Shemar Turner and South Carolina’s T.J. Sanders, as well as safeties like Nick Emmanwori of South Carolina and Oklahoma’s Billy Bowman Jr., who could be significant additions to the roster. The Dolphins are also eyeing guards like Georgia’s Tate Ratledge and Purdue’s Marcus Mbow, who could enhance their offensive line. With a well-rounded approach, Miami anticipates a promising draft season ahead.
