Eastern Michigan University Celebrates 85 Student-Athlete Graduates at Spring Commencement
YPSILANTI, Mich. – Eastern Michigan University proudly recognized the achievements of 85 student-athletes during the spring commencement ceremonies on April 27 at the George Gervin GameAbove Center. Graduates from various colleges participated in two ceremonies, with the morning session featuring attendees from the College of Arts & Sciences, Individualized Studies, and the College of Education, while the afternoon honored graduates from the College of Business, GameAbove College of Engineering and Technology, and the College of Health & Human Services.
Among the notable graduates were student-athletes from diverse sports, exemplifying the university’s commitment to academic excellence alongside athletic performance. Baseball led with ten graduates, including notable names such as Dom Anderson and Andrew Dukesherer. The men’s basketball team celebrated five graduates, highlighted by Jalin Billingsley and Julian Lewis.
The football team contributed 14 graduates, showcasing talents from across the nation, while the track and field programs collectively graduated 20 individuals. The women’s sports highlighted impressive graduates, such as Ashley Hassett in basketball and standout athletes in rowing, soccer, and track & field, emphasizing the university’s comprehensive athletic program.
The ceremony not only celebrated academic achievements but underscored the resilience and dedication of these athletes who balanced rigorous schedules of competition and academics. EMU’s administration commended their efforts, reinforcing the message that success transcends athletic performance and encompasses academic pursuits as well.
