Press Release: Central Michigan Men’s Golf Concludes Season at MAC Championship

GROVE CITY, Ohio – The Central Michigan Men’s Golf team wrapped up their season on a challenging note at the Mid-American Conference Championship held at the Pinnacle Golf Club. The competition, hosted by Bowling Green, featured all nine MAC men’s golf teams battling against gusty winds and weather interruptions.

The Chippewas finished in ninth place, concluding the tournament with a cumulative score of 921, which included individual rounds of 303, 305, and a final round of 313. They fell just eight strokes short of eighth-place Ohio.

Head Coach Kevin Jennings reflected on the team’s growth: "They bonded better, supported each other, and focused on key points for improvement." He acknowledged the difficulties of competing with a young team, emphasizing the importance of this experience for their future.

Keith Hunter stood out with an impressive even-par 72 in the final round, boosting his ranking by 17 spots to tie for 16th with a total score of 222. Jennings praised Hunter’s focus and execution, which contributed significantly to his performance.

Other notable performances included Jeffrey Andrus, who finished with a total score of 233 after carding a 78 in the final round, and Easton Phillips, who completed the tournament with a score of 236. Nicholas Kilgore and Jeffrey Sager also participated, finishing with scores of 243 and 242, respectively.

Kent State secured the team championship with a remarkable total of 854, while Jordan Gilkison claimed the individual title with a score of 208.

As the season concludes, Coach Jennings highlighted memorable moments, including their historic participation in international competitions and the announcement of a new practice facility. Looking forward, Jennings expressed optimism for the program’s bright future.
