Lefkosa, May 03, 2025 — In a landmark address at the TEKNOFEST Award Ceremony, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced that Türkiye has ascended to the ranks of the top three nations globally in unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) technology. Highlighting the nation’s commitment to advancing this field, Erdogan celebrated various achievements in defense aviation, including the development of the KAAN national combat aircraft and innovative drones such as the Bayraktar Kizilelma and ANKA-3.

Erdogan emphasized that Türkiye’s advancements are driven by the nation’s youth and their creativity in technology. He reiterated plans for a stronger Türkiye and a prosperous Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), laying the groundwork for the future through investments in education, technology, and infrastructure, such as earthquake-resistant school facilities.

During the ceremony, Erdogan expressed long-term optimism for regional stability and development, declaring, “With the TEKNOFEST youth and our strategic initiatives, we will ensure our presence for centuries to come.” The festival itself attracted massive crowds, with around 62,000 visitors attending on its first day and showcasing a dazzling array of aerial performances by Turkish indigenous aircraft.

TRNC President Ersin Tatar praised Türkiye’s accomplishments in the defense industry, affirming that these successes resonate deeply within the Turkic world. The ongoing TEKNOFEST, Türkiye’s leading technology, aviation, and space event, highlights the nation’s prowess and dedication to innovation in a rapidly evolving global landscape.

Erdogan concluded by reinforcing the historical ties between the Turkish nation and the TRNC, calling for recognition of their shared heritage. The four-day festival continues to host a series of exhibitions and aerial displays, projecting Türkiye’s robust presence in modern aviation and defense.
