Michigan-Made Film ‘Tweed’ Premieres with Red Carpet Star Power in Dearborn

DEARBORN, MI – A night of glitz and excitement unfolded at the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center as the Michigan-based sci-fi thriller "Tweed" enjoyed its Hollywood-style premiere. Directed by actor Alexander Wraith, known for his roles in "Orange Is the New Black" and "Star Wars: The Mandalorian," the film dives into a chilling twist on a local urban legend tied to camping in Michigan.

Set against the backdrop of mysterious woods and underground tunnels, "Tweed" explores the unsettling folklore of missing persons, enhanced by Wraith’s personal connection to the story. “It’s based on myths where a lot of people have gone missing,” he remarked. “I took that myth and embellished it, adding a narrative layer.”

The production highlighted a commitment to local talent, filming primarily in Michigan over a span of nine days. "Most of the cast is from Detroit, aside from Bianca Van Damme," Wraith noted, praising the area’s vibrant acting community. The premiere event attracted a full house, with many attendees donning elegant attire for the red carpet occasion.

Wraith expressed gratitude for the local crew’s hard work, stating, “The Michigan team was amazing.” As the movie unfolds, attendees were treated to a blend of suspense and regional authenticity, leaving them eager for more.

Excitingly, Wraith shared that plans are already underway for future projects, including a potential spin-off. Inspired by classics like "Stranger Things," the new concept aims to further explore the compelling narrative of camping gone awry.

With "Tweed," Michigan’s film industry shines brightly, showcasing local storytelling talent and captivating audiences.
