Governor Whitmer Appoints Jim Ananich as Chair of Michigan Gaming Control Board
Flint, MI – Governor Gretchen Whitmer has officially appointed Jim Ananich as Chair of the Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB), effective April 25, 2025. Ananich, a Flint resident, brings a wealth of experience in public service, having previously served as the Michigan Senate Minority Leader, a State Representative, and President of the Flint City Council.
In addition to his new role with the MGCB, Ananich is the President and CEO of the Greater Flint Health Coalition and lectures on state and local government at the University of Michigan-Flint. He holds a bachelor’s degree in political economy from Michigan State University, alongside a master’s degree in educational administration and supervision from the University of Michigan.
Governor Whitmer praised Ananich’s extensive qualifications and commitment to public service. “His leadership and dedication will be invaluable in overseeing Michigan’s gaming regulations and ensuring fair play in the industry,” said the governor.
Ananich’s term as Chair is set to expire on December 31, 2028. His appointment comes at a pivotal time when the gaming industry is evolving rapidly. With his background and leadership skills, Ananich is expected to help guide the MGCB through challenges and opportunities ahead.
Ananich also contributes to the community as a member of the Advisory Board of the National Kidney Foundation of Michigan, demonstrating his commitment to health and public welfare.
