Blue Lion Fitness Expands in Ann Arbor with New Location and Future Plans
ANN ARBOR, MI – Blue Lion Fitness, a well-known gym founded by Ryan Van Bergen and Daniel Roth in 2015, has officially relocated to a larger facility at 2875 W. Liberty Road, marking a significant milestone in their growth. Formerly situated at 401 S. Maple Road, the gym’s new location offers over 4,000 additional square feet and spans 4.6 acres, allowing the popular sports performance coaching center to better accommodate its expanding clientele.
"We were really busting at the seams in our previous space," said Roth. "Elbow to elbow wasn’t working anymore." The co-owners sought a location that maintained the gym’s integrity while providing room for growth, instead of opting for a franchise model.
The new space comes with exciting plans for a 20,000-square-foot indoor basketball and training facility, alongside outdoor training areas. Roth expressed their ambition to break ground on this addition within the next month, envisioning a complete experience for gym-goers by next year.
Both Van Bergen and Roth leverage their athletic backgrounds—Van Bergen as a former captain of the Michigan football team and Roth as a multi-sport athlete—to develop their unique training programs. Their mission is to empower individuals of all skill levels, fostering confidence and passion in sports.
Located near the University of Michigan’s Big House, Blue Lion Fitness has historically attracted many UM athletes, contributing to their training journeys. Roth stated, "It’s been an incredible journey to grow together with our families and community."
As they embark on this new chapter, Roth and Van Bergen express gratitude towards the community for their unwavering support. "This upgrade is a testament that hard work leads to good fortune," Roth affirmed, signaling their commitment to continue serving Ann Arbor for years to come.
