University of Michigan Varsity Teams Excel in Latest APR Scores
ANN ARBOR, Mich. — The University of Michigan’s Athletic Department celebrated a remarkable achievement with 14 varsity teams recording perfect multiyear scores of 1,000 in the latest Academic Progress Rate (APR) released by the NCAA on May 6. This impressive milestone includes 10 women’s programs and four men’s programs and underscores Michigan’s commitment to academic excellence among its athletes.
The APR is an essential metric that assesses the academic performance of student-athletes based on eligibility, retention, and graduation rates. The scores reflect data from the 2020-21 through 2023-24 academic years, with all 27 of Michigan’s varsity teams scoring well above the NCAA’s minimum requirement of 930 for good standing. Notably, 21 out of the 27 teams achieved the perfect score of 1,000 during the 2023-24 academic year.
Among the teams with perfect scores are prominent programs such as men’s and women’s cross country, gymnastics, and rowing. Women’s programs excelled with 12 out of 14 teams achieving 1,000, while nine men’s teams also reached this benchmark.
