Mounjaro and Ozempic: Trending Medications for Weight Loss

In recent months, Mounjaro and Ozempic have gained significant attention, especially among those looking to lose weight rapidly. Originally developed for type 2 diabetes management, these injectable medications have emerged as a popular choice for weight loss, garnering endorsements from various celebrities.

Dr. Nivedita Dadu, an Indian dermatologist, has shared her personal weight loss journey utilizing Mounjaro, claiming to shed 14 kg (about 31 pounds) in just four months. In her recent YouTube video, she discussed her past struggles with weight loss, highlighting failed attempts with various diets and programs that left her disheartened.

Mounjaro (tirzepatide) and Ozempic (semaglutide) work by mimicking hormones that regulate hunger and insulin, reducing appetite and improving metabolism. Dr. Dadu found Mounjaro particularly effective, understanding its dual-action mechanism that targets both GLP-1 and GIP hormones.

Initially, Dr. Dadu attempted weight loss with Ozempic, but its unavailability in India led her to try Rebelsis, the oral version of semaglutide. However, side effects prompted her switch to Mounjaro, which proved to be more effective and tolerable.

Beyond weight loss, Dr. Dadu noted improvements in her overall health, including increased energy levels and diminished cravings, particularly emotional eating. While she follows a balanced diet and exercises, Mounjaro’s once-a-week injection has made a significant impact on her journey.

Despite the promising results, Dr. Dadu cautioned that Mounjaro requires medical supervision, as it is not suitable for individuals with certain health conditions. For those considering this path, consulting a healthcare provider is essential to monitor health parameters and ensure safe usage.
