What Jonathan Brown’s Dedication Means for Michigan Football

Michigan Football Lands Promising 2026 Running Back Jonathan Brown

In a significant recruiting win, Michigan’s football program has secured a commitment from three-star running back Jonathan Brown, hailing from Columbus St. Francis de Sales, despite Ohio State’s stronghold in the region. Brown chose Michigan over seven other Division I offers, marking an important addition to the Wolverines’ 2026 class.

Brown, standing 6-foot-1 and weighing 200 pounds, earned his offer after impressing Michigan’s coaching staff at two camps in the past month. Although relatively under-recruited with just one other Power Five offer from Rutgers, he fills a key position as Michigan aims to add two running backs this cycle. Expressing enthusiasm for his commitment, Brown stated, "It was an opportunity I couldn’t pass up," highlighting his eagerness to bond with teammates and learn from renowned running backs coach Alford.

Following his commitment early Sunday, recruiting analysts have begun to take notice of Brown, who is now ranked as the No. 561 overall player and No. 34 running back nationally by 247Sports. His athletic prowess was showcased when he clocked a 4.55-second 40-yard dash and achieved a 40-inch vertical leap, earning him MVP honors at a recent camp.

Brown’s impressive junior season included rushing for 1,295 yards and 16 touchdowns, averaging 6.4 yards per carry. His commitment, however, does not deter Michigan’s pursuit of five-star running back Savion Hiter, a top target who visited Ann Arbor earlier this month.

With Brown’s commitment, Michigan now boasts 12 recruits in their 2026 class and maintains a solid trajectory in the recruiting landscape, currently ranked 37th nationally. As the Wolverines gain momentum heading into summer, the coaching staff is determined to land further elite talent.
